Overview

All events start on the ice in front of the La Ronge Legion Hall, 1400 La Ronge Avenue.

All trails will be groomed for skating and classic skiing.

Checkpoints are located every four to nine kilometers and have radio contact, first aid, toilets, beverages, food, a campfire and friendly volunteers.

There will be awards for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place skiers in each age category and event, except for the Jackrabbit Glide, which provides an award for each young skier.

2km Orano Jackrabbit Glide
Start: 11 a.m. Saturday March 4th, 2023
Even the youngest skiers can take part in the fun and excitement of the Saskaloppet! Hot dogs, snacks, drinks and fire pit will be at Peanut Grove located near the finish line at the yellow gates. All participants will get a certificate and a medal. No times are recorded for the 2km distance.
Only the 2km ORANO Jackrabbit Glide starts and finishes at the Nut Point Campground, with an 11am start time (the start time for the other distances is 10am). Vehicle parking is available in a parking lot adjacent to the start/finish line. Please remember to pick up your bib at The Legion.

5km Orano Lake Challenge
Start: 10 a.m. Saturday March 4th, 2023
Skiers wanting to see just a bit more of Lac La Ronge can sign up for the ORANO Lake Challenge. Skiers in the 5 km start at the Legion, ski a further 2km at Nut Point, and finish at the Nut Point yellow gate. Please remember to pick up your bib at The Legion.

7km Northern Manual Therapies Trek
Start: 10 a.m. Saturday March 4th, 2023
Newly added in 2023! Skiers in the 7 km will follow the same route as the 5km, but add an extra 2km to return back on Lac La Ronge to the Legion finish line.

12km KFC Precambrian Passage
Start: 10 a.m. Saturday March 4th, 2023
Novice loppeters or those out for a shorter day will enjoy this tour through the boreal forest to Checkpoint 1 and back. The 12-km starts from the lake ice in front of the La Ronge Legion Hall. Skiers travel north on the Saskaloppet Trail as far as Checkpoint #1. There, after snacks and drinks, they turn to retrace their route back to the La Ronge finish line.

20km Village of Air Ronge Odyssey
Start: 10 a.m. Saturday March 4th, 2023
The 20 km route starts from the lake ice in front of the La Ronge Legion Hall. Skiers travel north past Checkpoint #1 to reach Checkpoint #2. They then turn to retrace their route back to the La Ronge finish line.

35km LLRIB Raven's Tradition
Start: 10 a.m. Saturday March 4th, 2023
Test yourself on the moderately challenging section of the Saskaloppet Trails, with ravens as your guide from the start line on the lake ice in front of the La Ronge Legion Hall. Skiers travel north on the Saskaloppet Trail past Checkpoints #1 and #2 to reach Checkpoint #3. Here, they turn right to travel back to La Ronge via the Hornet Bay arm of the Saskaloppet Trail

55km SaskEnergy Enduro
Start: 8:30 a.m. Saturday March 4th, 2023
The Enduro is the Saskaloppet's main event for determined loppeteers and those looking for a physical challenge. Enduro skiers travel 24km north from The Legion start line to reach the Don Allen Trails where they will ski an 8km loop that will bring them to "the Summit". After enjoying the Summit's grand view of Lac La Ronge, they will have a good downhill run that starts them on their journey home. Cash prizes are offered to the top 55-km finishers in both the male and female categories ($300 for 1st, $200 for 2nd and $100 for 3 rd).

52km and 77km Robertson Trading Kupesewin Events
Start: 12:30 p.m. Friday March 3rd, 2023
The Cree word kupesewin means "stop-over". The Kupesewin events are 2 day events that allow endurance skiers to recreate the experiences of early winter travellers with an overnight, wilderness camp-out.
The Kupesewin events are limited to the first 25 registered skiers combined.
